Around the time of the introduction of electronic flash to photography, many newspapers - especially the one's in rural areas with circulations lesser than 35,000 - required the addition of a publisher's note to the caption, explaining that people were not in fact "dematarializing", and that it was simply a function of a very slow shutter speed.
